Debian / Ubuntu LTS : sSMTP mailserver a sendmail/nullmailer Alternative/Replacement

sSMTP is the perfect fit for a vps or a server that send infrequent email. If you want to use sendmail via a email account (smtp) you should also use sSMTP . sSMTP is a local service, not listeing to any ports, as it catches local calls to sendmail.

this guide was changed from nullmailer to sSMTP as it offers the same functionality with less issues.

Install

Configure
Replace with your values

Testing sSMTP

Install Mailutils

Execute the test command
