RHEL / CentOS / Redhat :: Mailpiler with Sphinx and MariaDB : Bugfix for segfault issue

NOTE:

MariaDB segfaults with the latest version ( 0.1.24 ) of mailpiler, please use this guide to fix the issue.

Notes

Guide is based on the guide/fix posted by : Janos SUTO on the mailinglist

Remove Mariadb

Install stock mysql packages

recompile MailPiler

Save the working libmysqlclient_r.so file

Remove the stock mysql packages, and install mariadb

Restart piler: it should work by now again

Optional: If your shpinx packages were removed during the process
download it nd reinstall it

    I tried what is on this page, but I do still recieve the segmentation fault upon (re)starting piler.
    Can you try to help me out a bit?

      Without access to the machine, I would check the log files. Another idea would be to replace mariadb with a newer version or replace it with mysql.

    Thanks for the post, it is really useful. I was able to bring up piler service but i cannot bring sphinx up.

    using config file ‘/etc/sphinx/sphinx.conf’…
    WARNING: compat_sphinxql_magics=1 is deprecated; please update your application and config
    FATAL: failed to create pid file ‘/var/run/sphinx/searchd.pid’: Permission denied

    Could you please help me how can i make update the application and config file?
